Spent a lot of time in prayer and intercession, this morning.
The devil makes me so angry! My heart breaks for those who are being deceived by him…especially the ones who are being deceived and they have no idea. What’s worse is that when they speak, their words are so close to the Truth…yet, far from it. That’s just how conniving the enemy can be!
Satan is a liar and the father of lies. Lies are his native language (John 8:44). He comes only to steal and to kill and to destroy (John 10:10). The problem is, he doesn’t come as a red-horned devil…because then we could easily identify him. No, he comes as everything we think we want. The devil was once an angel, therefore, he is able to masquerade as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14). This makes it even easier for him to deceive and hold people in bondage.
God has allowed some people to cross my path who are unable to see the damage the enemy is causing in their lives. I can see that Satan is wreaking havoc, but they do not. The devil has blinded their minds. I have tenderly talked with them. I have prayed for them…and wept for them. I have cried out to God on their behalf – that He would protect them, bring them out of darkness and into the light. That they would find TRUE enlightenment.
And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:3-6
For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light. Psalm 36:9
It is JESUS who is the light of the world!
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
And so much more!
Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress. In the past he humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the future he will honor Galilee of the nations, by the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan—
The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.
You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy; they rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest, as warriors rejoice when dividing the plunder.
For as in the day of Midian’s defeat, you have shattered the yoke that burdens them, the bar across their shoulders, the rod of their oppressor.
Every warrior’s boot used in battle and every garment rolled in blood will be destined for burning, will be fuel for the fire.
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this. Isaiah 9:1-7
This is the Jesus I know! And the One I so long for those walking in darkness to not just know “about,” but to know personally and intimately. He doesn’t want any of us to perish, but longs to raise us up on the last day (John 6:39-40; Matthew 18:14; 2 Peter 3:9). He came to save us…because He loves us.
After praying and worshiping, I spent some time in the Word…and, once again, it filled me with hope. Even though my heart breaks for my loved ones who are lost, I will cling to what I read this very morning:
The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you. Romans 16:20
So be it.
